Kidney stones plus bladder infection= a trip to the hospital

Starting Thursday morning I woke up with a lot of pain. I called my doc and we determined it was ligament pain. Still it was terribly painful...maybe a little more painful then before but I took it easy and stayed off my feet. About halfway through the day I noticed the pain hadn't gotten any better so I got up and walked for a mile on the tredmel. figured I would try to stretch out a little. The pain lessened but was still there.
Friday morning my alarm went off and I immediatly sat up and thought WOW....I HAVE to pee!!! So I ran  to the bathroom to pee and to my surprise not a whole lot came out. I also felt I still had to go really bad. So I tried to go a few more times in the morning and went to work. After attempting to pee over 15 times and having really bad pressure and pain in my abdomen I called the doctor. Dr. Sargent had me go to him office and do some lab work. I had to get some fluids and my labs showed I had a bladder and mild kidney infection. I started antibiotics and went home to put my feet up and wait for the antibiotics to kick in. I noticed my pain wasn't going away...in fact it was getting worse. I tried to go to sleep but this sharp pain in my lower back on the right side was so bad I began to cry. I called Dr. Sargent around just before midnight and explained my symptoms and he thought about it a little bit and said I better go to Adventist...He was pretty sure I had kidney stones.

So John and I are up it is now Saturday early early A.M. just past midnight when I get admitted up to Labor and Delivery. Luckily right away they got me attatched to some monitors to watch for contractions and to see Lincolns heartbeat which was strong and around 150bmp

Here is a picture of what my belly looked like all hooked up.

Lincoln was safe and we started me on pain killers while we waited for me to pass the stone.

The hero of my little trip was my amazing husband. He slept over night on the pullout couch as much as he could. Now this trip to the hospital was basically 4 day stay and he stayed 3 of the 4 nights! That is an amazing man if you ask me.

Flower he brought me after I had been there for 24 hours.

John trying to sleep at the hospital.

After waiting for something to happen and me continuing to be in pain a urologist came in to talk to us ans sugessted we place a Stent in my kidney.

Here is what it is:
A kidney stent (medically called a ureteric stent) is a specially designed hollow tube, made of a flexible plastic material. It is commonly placed inside the ureter, between the kidney and the bladder, in order to temporarily relieve obstruction.
So on Monday around 1:30pm I went under to have this placed to help my kidney stones pass.
Luckily all of this was safe for baby Lincoln and he was closely montitored the whole time.

John and Lincoln having a moment! :)

I am now home and so so happy to be here. I just wanted to share my little scare with kidney stones and share that Lincoln and I are okay.

Lincoln and I at Portland Adventist. I am happy to report that our stay was amazing and I am so glad we are going to have our baby at this hospital.
